In this piece, the uses and metaphors associated with the pulley, in its simplest system, are explored within a fantasy setting. In this world, labor and work are the highest valued way to spend one’s time, even if the tasks are self defeating and repetitive. The labor is completed in a deliberate, almost puritanical, manor until curiosity bubbles up. What does it mean to continue carrying out these actions when you are alone? How do we tell ourselves the narratives of our own responsibilities and desires?
